Frequently Asked Questions

It’s been a while, but things are now slowly moving towards the “new normal” and we are extremely excited to be able to open our doors on 25th July with new plans in place – your visits to Roefield from here on out will be SAFE, CLEAN, FRIENDLY AND FUN.

We understand that some members may be a bit apprehensive about returning to the gym following on from the COVID-19 outbreak, so we have put together some FAQ’s which we think will help your return and make it as smooth and easy as possible.

We have been working hard  to create a new policy, which will cover all health and safety aspects, all cleaning aspects and all safe working aspects. If you would like to read our policy relating to the COVID-19 outbrea, please email us on

We have installed cleaning stations in every room in the centre. These will have wipes, spray bottles and hand sanitizer that will be available at all times. Every piece of gym equipment will have its own cleaning bottle and cloths for you to sanitize after you have used  it . Our gym instructors will also be regularly deep cleaning the gym at intervals throughout the day. We will also have masks and gloves readily available at reception should you require these whilst in the centre.

We have changed the layout of the whole centre allowing gym equipment to be correctly spaced out across several rooms. This ensures a 2m distance is maintained between each piece of equipment. We have also marked out 'zones' for customers to use in group sessions that are 2m apart. We have also installed distance stickers around the centre so that customers can see the correct distance between themselves and others.

As per the government guidelines, our air con system will be turned off in place of our ventilation system, which will run 24hours a day. All available doors and windows will be open to help provide constant fresh air throughout any session.

Unfortunately, the sauna and steam room will remain closed and changing rooms will be closed until a time when we receive further guidance on these areas. We are asking all customers to come changed and ready to use the facilities and shower at home after their workout. The toilets remain open but will operate on a 1 person at-a-time basis, and will be marked out for customers to wait should they need to.

All lockers remain closed until a time when further guidance is available about these areas. We kindly ask customers to bring minimal items and personal belongings to the centre.

We have made some slight changes to opening times which allows us to regularly deep clean all the equipment. These will be constantly reviewed with the hope to extending as soon as possible.

When we re-open, our hours will be:

Monday/Wednesday 9am-8pm
Tuesday/Thursday 6am-8pm

Friday 9am-6pm

Saturday and Sunday 8am-12pm

We have recently sent out an email containing all details relating to memberships. Please check your inbox for this communication. Please contact us on  if you would like any further clarity on your membership or to discuss your personal circumstances.

Initially we will be limiting the number of people allowed in the gym. We are asking all members to check the gym capacity in our app before attending to check we are not at capacity, or alternatively give us a call. This does not apply to members who are booked onto group sessions.

We have changed the timetable to help us accommodate the new changes and allow us to follow a strict cleaning procedure in between classes. This will be released next week. Classes can be booked as normal via the app or website up to 1 week in advance. We kindly ask customers to book 1 class per day. This will be regularly reviewed. We will be suspending our cancellation policy for the time being, however we still ask customers to cancel with as much notice as possible so we can offer to others who are waiting. Waiting lists will work as normal and contact you via email if you have a space.

Our brand new app will be your go to for all things Roefield. From your phone you will be able to book your favorite classes, take part in live streamed classes and view our large catalog of on demand classes. You can also check how busy the gym is and keep up to date with the latest Roefield news. All classes, both live streamed and on demand, are currently free of charge to everyone.

To download our app, just go to either the Play store or the App store and search for Roefield. You can also find more information by clicking here.

No, additional inductions will not be required. Should you need help with any of the kit you can click here for demonstration videos on how to set up each piece of equipment.

At the moment we are unable to offer face-to-face appointments with our gym instructors. We can however offer a digital programme service where you can email us on  and an instructor will send you either a new personalised programme or your current gym programme.

We are currently operating as a cash-free centre so ask that all payments are made via contactless or chip and pin.

We are also suspending car park refunds in order to minimize contact and help us recover some income from our period of closure.

Currently all sportshall activities have been put on hold as we have utilised this space to accommodate social distancing in the gym and classes. We will be in contact with all block bookings in due course to discuss their slots.

Ribblesdale Swimming Pool is operated by Ribble Valley Borough Council, who have indicated that they will be operating bookings to use the swimming pool. You would need to contact them on 01200 424825 to book a slot.

We have recently introduced Anita Saunders to our team as our new Up & Active manager. Anita will be running a variety of sessions throughout the week. Full details can be found by clicking here, and Anita's classes can also be viewed on our timetable by clicking here.

You are able to keep your membership on freeze until a time when you are ready to come back. We are also kindly asking that any member who does not feel confident in coming back to the centre to consider a £10 per month payment to the centre to receive the benefits of a membership online at home, whilst also supporting the charity and helping us through these uncertain times. Should you wish to choose this option, please click here

All members will be informed of and expected to follow our Members Code of Conduct. This will be presented to all customers before we open and displayed to customers throughout the centre. The code of conduct can be found here.

Please let us know as soon as possible by emailing either David Potts, Centre Manager, or Jemimah Read, Assistant Manager, so we can attempt to Track & Trace and contact the people who were also in your session. This will be done anonymously.

We will be asking all customers to provide up to date contact details so that we can effectively run a Track & Trace system. This will be done on your first visit to the centre.
