Frequently Asked Questions

It’s been a while, but things are now slowly moving towards the “new normal” and we are extremely excited to be able to open our doors on 25th July with new plans in place – your visits to Roefield from here on out will be SAFE, CLEAN, FRIENDLY AND FUN.

We understand that some members may be a bit apprehensive about returning to the gym following on from the COVID-19 outbreak, so we have put together some FAQ’s which we think will help your return and make it as smooth and easy as possible.

We have been working hard  to create a new policy, which will cover all health and safety aspects, all cleaning aspects and all safe working aspects. If you would like to read our policy relating to the COVID-19 outbrea, please email us on

We have installed hand sanitizing stations regularly around the centre. Upon entering the centre, customers will take their own cloth. Every piece of gym equipment will have its own cleaning bottle for you to sanitize after you have used it. Our gym instructors will also be regularly deep cleaning the gym at intervals throughout the day. We will also have masks and gloves readily available at reception should you require these whilst in the centre.

We have changed the layout of the whole centre allowing gym equipment to be correctly spaced out across several rooms. This ensures a 2m distance is maintained between each piece of equipment. We have also marked out 'zones' for customers to use in group sessions that are 2m apart. We have also installed distance stickers around the centre so that customers can see the correct distance between themselves and others.

As per the government guidelines, our air con system will be turned off in place of our ventilation system, which will run 24hours a day. All available doors and windows will be open to help provide constant fresh air throughout any session.

Unfortunately, the sauna and steam room will remain closed and changing rooms will be closed until a time when we receive further guidance on these areas. We are asking all customers to come changed and ready to use the facilities and shower at home after their workout. The toilets remain open but will operate on a 1 person at-a-time basis.

All lockers remain closed until a time when further guidance is available about these areas. We kindly ask customers to bring minimal items and personal belongings to the centre.

We have made some slight changes to opening times which allows us to regularly deep clean all the equipment. These will be constantly reviewed with the hope to extending as soon as possible.

When we re-open, our hours will be:

Monday - Friday 6am-9pm
Saturday and Sunday 8am-3pm
**Please note there will be a change in opening hours for the Christmas period. These opening hours can be found on our social media pages closer to the time and also in centre. **

We are asking all members to check the gym capacity in our app before attending to check we are not at capacity, or alternatively give us a call. This does not apply to members who are booked onto group sessions.

Whilst we remain in Tier 3, we are unfortunately unable to run our successful class timetable. We have instead committed to the continuation of our successful livestream timetable, which you can do from home, and you can also utilise Les Mills On Demand as well as our own On Demand service in the centre at your own leisure.

Whilst the classes are on hold, we have worked hard to introduce other activities that you can participate in within the centre, and we encourage all members to try something new. These can be found by clicking here.

As soon as Lancashire moves into Tier 2, we will bring back our new and improved Aerobics timetable for you to enjoy.

Our brand new app will be your go to for all things Roefield. From your phone you will be able to book your favourite classes (when restrictions are lifted) and view our large catalogue of on demand classes. You can also check how busy the gym is and keep up to date with the latest Roefield news.

This is also where you will find our livestreamed classes, bookable PT sessions, access your own personalised programme and also have access to the latest updated and news direct from us.

To download our app, just go to either the Play store or the App store and search for Roefield. You can also find more information by clicking here.

No, additional inductions will not be required. Should you need help with any of the kit you can click here for demonstration videos on how to set up each piece of equipment.

If Active Aerobics members are using the gym for the first time whilst we are in Tier 3, you are welcome to contact us for a quick gym induction should you wish.

We are currently offering a digital programme service where you can email us on  and an instructor will send you either a new personalised programme or your current gym programme. Alternatively if you would like a face to face appointment, these are available on a limited basis and can be booked at Reception.

We are currently operating as a cash-free centre so ask that all payments are made via contactless or chip and pin.

We are also suspending car park refunds in order to minimize contact and help us recover some income from our period of closure.

Currently all sportshall activities have been put on hold as we have utilised this space to accommodate social distancing in the gym and classes. We will be in contact with all block bookings in due course to discuss their slots.

Ribblesdale Swimming Pool is operated by Ribble Valley Borough Council, who are operating bookings to use the swimming pool. You would need to contact them on 01200 424825 to book a slot.

We have recently introduced Anita Saunders to our team as our new Up & Active Co-ordinator. Anita will be running a variety of sessions throughout the week. Full details can be found by clicking here, and Anita's classes can also be viewed on our class timetable.

Whilst the Up & Active classes cannot run, Anita will also be personally contacting all members to offer one to one sessions as part of their membership.

You are able to keep your membership on freeze until a time when you are ready to come back. If you would like more information on freezing your membership, please email us on

All members will be informed of and expected to follow our Members Code of Conduct. This will be displayed to customers throughout the centre. The code of conduct can be found here.

Please let us know as soon as possible by emailing either David Potts, Centre Manager, or Jemimah Read, Assistant Manager, so we can attempt to Track & Trace and contact the people who were also in your session. This will be done anonymously. You can now also download the NHS Test and Trace app which will automatically contact those who you have been in contact with.
