Class Descriptions

Spinning – Cycle through sprints and hills, work on strength and endurance, create an athlete within!  For all fitness levels.  Prepare to sweat and burn!

Bodycombat – A total body martial arts workout that is designed to give you maximum calorie burn. Punch and kick your way to fitness with these high-energy non-contact martial arts moves. You’ll release stress, have a blast and feel like a champ. 

Bodypump – is the original barbell class! It’s a total body workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition,  instructors will coach you through the scientifically-backed moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music.

Zumba –a mix of low and high intensity, interval-style moves that come together for a dance fitness party. It combines Latin and conventional dance moves and music. Come join the party!

Yoga –an ancient practice of physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana). The emphasis is on breath and alignment while building strength & flexibility and will leave you feeling calm.  All postures can be adapted to suit all levels of fitness & ability.

Group PT – a 45 minute small group circuit style training session. It is delivered in the small gym or sportshall utilising the kit, machines, rig, weights and benches.  A full total body workout designed to challenge, strengthen and push your fitness levels.

Strength & Abs – a 45 minute conditioning session using dumbbells, barbells & plates to help you build strength and tone. This class will also incorporate a variety of training styles to challenge your fitness and keep your body guessing. Improve your technique & gain more confidence lifting weights whilst burning fat and toning up.

Spin HIIT – not just a spin class! This class is probably the most unpredictable on the timetable as it incorporates spin bikes, bodyweight, circuits, cardio, weights, running and much more, all performed in a HIIT style! Every week is different and you will never know what to expect – except for a killer workout!

Wellbeing Wednesday – Suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s.  This is a free service with a sole purpose of bringing people together and encouraging light and gentle activity.  During the seasons the activities will change and you will need to enquire as to our current activity.  You can do this via our Let’s Live Life Facebook Page, come into Roefield Leisure and ask in the Let’s Live Life room, or send an email with your enquiry to sam.letslivelife@gmail.com.  Examples of activities are short country walks (approximately 2 mile), recipe swaps, table tennis, kurling, swing ball  and, badminton,  etc. Activities are non competitive and easy exercise is encouraged. 

Stretch Flex & Meditate – A gentle 45 minute class which focuses on stretching out muscles and improving flexibility and joint mobility using a series of standing and seated flowing exercises. The last 15 minutes of the class will consist of guided meditation and breathing exercises to aid relaxation and balance body and mind.

Bodybalance ™ – is a unique workout which incorporates Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates to help improve flexibility, build strength and leave you feeling relaxed and calm. The class will help you learn how to control your breathing and focus your mind.

Kettles – a 30-45 minute class using one piece of equipment! It tones the whole body to ensure you melt away fat, improve core stability and endurance. It’s a non-impact class and perfect for beginners or anyone who wants an introduction to a conditioning style class.

HIITSTEP  – a 30 minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that uses a step and dynamic bodyweight exercises. It has been designed to improve power, increase strength and burn hundreds of calories. the HIITSTEP workout contains voice over music tracks and pre-designed training sessions allowing instructors to deliver inspirational and motivational workouts.

HIITCARDIO – a 30 minute bodyweight only, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that improves endurance, increases power and burns hundreds of calories. HIIT is the worlds greatest infusion of hi8gh energy house music and powerful calorie burning HIIT moves. The workout is vocally led by MC Stylie, delivered by super motivating instructors who are with you every step of the way as you take your body and mind to the max

Fitness Pilates – Designed to redress the balance in muscle tone, increase the tone of lax muscles, enhance posture and core stability.  This is an effective exercise prescription, it is not remedial, clinical or diagnostic in its approach, it is designed to be a fitness class for healthy adults.  Unlike our Pilates class where you can be monitored more specifically.  

Run club – Free to all, run club focuses on helping you improve your running technique. For beginners right through to experienced runners, there is a distance to suit you!

Legs Bums & Tums – a 45 minute conditioning class that focuses on training, strengthening and toning from the waist down! This is a no impact class so perfect for anyone who wants to avoid high impact and focus on strength and toning the body. Get ready for a booty burn!

Senior Strength & Conditioning – Suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s.  Weight bearing exercises using kettlebells, barbells, dumbbells, bendy balls and resistance bands.  Seated options available if there are specific exercises that you may find difficult.  This class is great for your muscular strength and endurance.  Strong muscles lead to strong bones, and strong bones can help minimize the risk of fracture due to osteoporosis.

Aerobics & Tone – Suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s, and those unable to do high impact exercise.  Low impact aerobics, finished with a toning section.  There is also an option for seated aerobics for those with limited mobility, please advise the instructor in advance of the class if you need help and advice.  Great for fat burn, cardio training, muscular strength and endurance.

Gentle Strength & Mobility Circuits – Suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s. Very gentle class suitable for people new to exercise who need to strengthen the body and work on mobilisation in a safe, circuit style class.

Standing and Seated Pilates – This class is suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s, and for those with limited mobility, such as those who struggle to, or have been advised not to exercise on the floor.  This form of Pilates is a great way to build muscular strength, improve flexibility, balance and posture and develop a strong core. Each exercise can be tailored to allow individual progression at your own pace. A gentle but enjoyable class.

Fitness Coming Dancing – This class is suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s, any fitness level will be able to join in.  Great music and fun dance routines in a range of styles including salsa, disco, swing, cha cha, street, and many more. No dance experience necessary, just a desire to release your inner dance diva! You will be having so much fun you won’t even realise you’re exercising!

Aerobics and Tone – Suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s, and those unable to do high impact exercise. Low impact aerobics, finished with a toning section. There is also an option for seated aerobics for those with limited mobility, please advise the instructor in advance of the class if you need help and advice. Great for fat burn, cardio training, muscular strength and endurance.

This class has a variety of exercises, including the use of equipment, circuit style. Working for 1 minute 30 seconds, with 30 seconds rest in-between. Like our aerobics, this is great for your cardio fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and fat burn.

Senior Strength & Cardio – Suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s.  Choice of low or high impact, seated options available if there are specific exercises that you may find difficult.  This class has a variety of exercises, including the use of equipment, circuit style.  Working for 1 minute 30 seconds, with 30 seconds rest in-between.  This class is great for your cardio fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and fat burn.

Tai Chi for beginners – Suitable for (but not exclusive to) the over 50’s.  Gentle, slow moving exercises. Requires loose fitting clothes and soft pumps/shoes/bare feet. No floor work, all exercises are done standing but can be adapted for sitting.  Qigong exercises are beneficial for chronic lower back pain, reducing stress, improving breathing, balance and increasing flexibility.

Seated Exercise – This class has lots of variety, for example resistance bands, kettlebells and weights, stretching and mobility.  It would suit those who have problems with standing whilst exercising, such as those who have a leg injury, suffering with plantar fasciitis, or only able to exercise their upper body.  Suitable for the over 50’s (but not exclusive to).

Mobility & Flexibility – This class is suitable for seniors (but not exclusive to), those with limited mobility, and those suffering with diagnosed chronic fatigue.  This is a very gentle class designed to improve flexibility, posture and range of movement. Exercises are mainly seated but sometimes standing.

Roefield is a large multi-purpose sports facility located in Clitheroe, Lancashire. Roefield’s facilities includes a large gym, junior gym, aerobics studio, 8.5 metre high climbing wall, sports hall, sauna and steam rooms, spin studio and café lounge.
