With shots in the professional game reaching up to 200mph, lightening fast reactions are required; as well as strength, stability and stamina. Whether you want to take part in exercise in a fun environment, or perhaps become the next Olympic champion; badminton classes at Roefield are perfect for all!
Beginner Badminton- Ages 8 + (Thursday 4.00pm-5.00pm)
The beginner badminton course concentrates on introducing players to the game; developing basic skills and techniques. There is a large focus on hand to eye co-ordination, positional play and the shots used in a game, with the rules for the sport also being introduced. Beginner badminton is a great way to get involved with this exciting, up and coming sport and learn the techniques essential to the game.

Advanced Badminton Ages 10+ (Monday 4.00pm-5.00pm)
The advanced badminton course develops on the basic aspects that the players know, whilst also introducing tactical strategies during matches. Advanced badminton players will develop their knowledge of shot techniques, and the implications that each shot will have in a match.

About the Coach – Matthew Cole
Matt is a Level 1 qualified Badminton coach with several years playing experience. He is currently studying his final year of A-Levels atClitheroeRoyalGrammar schoolwith an aim to study Sports Science at university in September.
He currently plays for Roefield Badminton Club in theBlackburnand District Badminton League, whilst also captaining the Under 19’s Grammar School Team. The highlight of his playing experience came when competing at the national finals of the 2010 Carlton Leisure Centre Championships.
Matt has been working with Roefield Leisure Centre since October 2011, coaching for the “No Strings Badminton” scheme.
